PhytaCell Technology, LLC was born to humble beginnings in 1996 in Willingboro, NJ. Like many tissue culture labs it all started at home with a bedroom converted to a culture room and one small laminar flow hood. Eventually PhytaCell moved into a proper facility and in 2004 we made the jump into hyper-space and moved the whole shebang up to my native Catskills in New York and settled in to a permanent facility at the headwaters of the Delaware River. Yes, that is the very same Delaware that is a source of fresh water for New York City and flows right by Philadelphia!
The original plan was to propagate rhododendrons but fortunately the head overruled the heart. I listened to nursery owner’s needs and cut my teeth on heucheras instead which were all the rage at the time. I still haven’t touched a rhododendron yet except in my own back yard.
